Hume Vacation 2009

I'm ignoring the monster pile of clean laundry waiting to be folded and put away, the meals that need to be planned and the groceries that need to be ordered. Instead I'm looking through the fun picture we took on our wonderful week vacation with friends at Hume Lake. For the third year in a row we rented a "cabin" and enjoyed our time at camp. The weather wasn't always the best but we were able to enjoy each and every day in

God's beautiful creation.
On Monday morning most of our group went rappelling overlooking the beautiful Kings Canyon. Jeff and Wes played paint ball on Tuesday morning while I peacefully read a book by the lake. Wednesday we took a tour of the camp and on Thursday morning we rode bikes to the dam. In the evenings we enjoyed dinners together at our cabin. After dinner we went to chapel where we were taught and challenged by God's word. We really enjoyed learning from and getting to know the speaker Brent Eldridge and his family. We usually followed up the evening meetings with milkshakes or smores and playing board games. The kids went to bed LATE each night and we went to bed even later. It was great!

You might wonder... how did you do all of that with the kids. Answer- Huckleberry Day Camp. Each morning the kids went to camp from 9am-12pm while we adventured. They had all sorts of fun... bubbles day, chalk fun, parachute play, sandbox day. Tori loved it! We think Siah enjoyed it but he didn't like it when we dropped it off. We were told that he was fine within a minute. We also dropped them off for 2 hours in the evening so we could listen to the speaker. We loved how the Huckleberry House allowed the kids a camp experience and we felt like we went to camp as well. And guess what? It was only $5 per kid per session... who could pass that up?

Pancake breakfast. Yummy food and wonderful view.

The kids spent time in the water even though it wasn't very warm. They're going to look back on these pictures and wonder why we dressed them like this... safety! Sun protection and floatation... maybe not so stylish, but safe.

Smiles with Mommy.
Snuggles with Daddy.

Siah loves to put his nose on mine. It's adorable- except when he headbutts me and almost breaks my nose.

These kids love to wear goggles. I love to take pictures of them in the goggles... so funny!

Jeff had fun catching tadpoles.

The guys- We've added a new boy each year. Isn't this little guy adorable? OK, they all are!

These are my girls- my roomies in college, bridesmaids, friends for life. So happy we get to spend time together at least once a year at camp. Lucky us, it will be at least twice this year since Katy and Wes are getting married in August. So fun! We are really happy for you two.

Already looking forward to next year.

Hume Lake

We were able to spend a week at Hume Lake with friends for the second year in a row. It was so much fun! We rented a cabin "beautiful home" with friends from college and their families. We had a great time together. Here are some of the highlights.

Chris & Alicia, Us, Katy & Wes. Not pictured- Jason, Bonnie & Brodie and Keri & Brent

Jeff's parents met us the first day we were there and we had fun exploring with them. They only stayed one night cause they were at the end of their trip and had stayed an extra day to see us.

Josiah with Grandpa

We enjoyed putting our feet in the creek. The water was cold but it didn't stop the kids from getting wet. They loved it. Especially after a 5 hour drive.

Here's a picture of the lake. It's so beautiful there. The weather was perfect and the lake was refreshing. Not too cold but definitly not warm. Often in the evenings we would take a walk and feed the ducks.
We also learned how to play disc golf. The guys played almost every day. It was fun. It's something we can do with the kids. We're planning to play around Santa Cruz sometime in the future.
We had a hotdog and smores roast the first night. It was a great way to start the vacation.

Most days were spent at the lake playing in the water. Tori's favorite memory is when I started to swim a fish jumped up and hit me in the head. I felt it and both Jeff and Tori were laughing and trying to explain to me what happened. Tori is still retelling the story.

VACATION

Daddy makes an excellent chair.

Milkshakes are a yummy treat at the snackbar. We tried to have one every night...you have to have goals.

Buck Rock- there is a fire lookout at the top of this huge rock that we were able to climb to the top of. The views were amazing. We even saw a couple fires going while we were up there. Tori actually climbed halfway before deciding that was high enough. While we were sitting there waiting for everyone else a hummingbird buzzed by and she started laughing and said, "I think the hummingbird just tootsed." She thought it was hilarious...I thought she was.

We're going to the top!

1/2 way up

We made it.

Can't wait for next year! Thanks friends for another fun year.
