As I was vacuuming the living room (for the 2nd time in less than 12 hours. Gotta love our yellow lab on the red carpet) - the kids were destroying their bedroom. Here's proof:

Why do I try to clean??? I have a ton of dishes to do, 5 loads of laundry to fold, and a dirty bathroom, I won't even go into how long it's been since I've cleaned the turtle tank or the laundry room- should I even try cleaning them today? I'm not motivated when I know they'll just destroy something else. What I'd really like to do is cuddle up with a good book and a great cup of coffee... maybe I'll be able to if they take naps together today. I can dream! Instead I'll blog about it and continue to let them make a mess of their room. At least they are having fun. I know that IS the most important thing. Not how clean the house is or isn't as the case may be.
Updated at 11:30am- I found motivation... I invited a friend over. Thankfully, Josiah took a nap and Tori colored while I did a quick clean. Quick clean definition- throw all the laundry in my room and close the door. Ignore their bedroom cause they'll destroy it with their friends. Do enough dishes so that the remaining all fit into the sink. Light a candle, turn on music, sit down with a glas of iced tea. And now I'm getting ready to close my rolltop desk cause they're here. Oh, I actually did clean the bathroom... no slacking there. Don't worry, I don't have to have the house clean for friends to visit but when I'm planning to do it any way, it's great motivation to do it quick instead of dread it all day.

I agree...having friends over is great motivation! I'm already starting to use my sister's visit which is in a little less than a month.
