Our Preschooler

We officially have a preschooler. It's an odd time of year to begin but Tori decided she was ready for preschool. Last week we visited the school we were planning for her to start in the fall and she LOVED it. The director offered for her to join for the last month... so she did.

Yesterday was her first official day of preschool. She was so excited. She picked out her outfit, her school bag, and sippy. We talked all weekend about her decision and made sure she knew that I wouldn't be staying. We've learned that it's really important for her to know what to expect. I stayed and filled out paperwork for the first hour and then went to say goodbye. She got a little sad and requested that she be able to watch me leave. She waved goodbye and went back to her craft. I was there to pick her up a little early and watched while she participated in circle time... she looked like she was having a great time. It was wonderful. The hightlights for her were the baby chicks and planting seeds.

We are so happy that it worked out this way. We had previously offered to start her in this past fall but she gave a very logical argument as to why she didn't want to go. She knew she would enjoy it and that she'd make lots of friends but she said she didn't want to leave me. We told her that she could make that choice this year but that she would need to go the following year. She's had plenty of time to get use to the idea and then become excited about it. It couldn't have worked it out any better. Such a smooth transition. We were expecting drama...
